The Baltimore Ravens | Keep Finding Ways To Win | PFF

I felt like I'm more impressed with the Niners I mean the Ravens were six days removed from destroying the Rams not only destroying the Rams but a Rams team we're about to talk about destroyed the Cardinals yeah and had been played really good defensively so really well defensively leading into that game I think the way there was a factor but I think you do have to really come out of this crediting the 49ers defense like they did as good a job of slowing down this offense as anybody and honestly you're looking at the air their offensive performance and you're saying you know they could have won this game if Jimmy Garoppolo had played better how's our free nature plan coming super Chris any advice with western and southern preparing for your financial future can be easier than you think favorite receiver huh to get started visit western southern calm alright let's get to the game of the week finally just cuz we're going in order here huh

San Francisco 49ers at the Baltimore Ravens yeah a little rainy very rainy I kept it I think that kept it a little bit tighter 22:17 it was just a good back-and-forth battle in this one but the Ravens man they know how to win man they can win in various ways they can you both teams are trying to kind of take some time off the clock both run games had had bouts of really good efficiency throughout the game and then you know the Ravens just found a way to make those just enough plays the end and it's nice when you have Justin Tucker that you can set up for a game while the rest of the league is struggling with kickers always you've got Justin Tucker money just so dependable doesn't matter what the weather conditions are game-winning field goal this is kind of interesting because so the weather definitely helped right it was rainy it was ugly it slowed things down the so the 49ers actually managed to slow down the Baltimore offense that it looks unstoppable you know in previous weeks they had been actually wrecking people including what we thought were elite defenses like the

New England Patriots this Ravens team was just rolling the 49ers did slow them down they really limited the passing game and particularly limited Lamar to basically reckon them on the ground and they were defending the run in a kind of weird way but it didn't they were able to get away with it Lamar got a bunch of free runs so that's what I mean zone read write that you would think so to date the way teams have defended Lamar is to try and take away the perimeter stuff right like you think back to that Chargers game it's like we're gonna win with speed and we're gonna make sure you can't get to the edge with your speed the 49ers were actively crashing down on the dive every single time just giving him the edge force essentially forcing him to carry the ball right forcing him to pull the ball in the read and take off that would seem to me to be the last thing I would want Lamar Jackson doing but that appeared to be their game plan for whatever reason and it worked one time because they forced a fumble sure he still ends up with 16 for 101 and even the fumble

I keep that was kind of freaky right like he'd already made a huge play and that was a crazy play by DB in the secondary it was I actually tackle and ripped the ball at the same time that's you know had that been a play where he'd taken off to the sidelines and like five guys in pursuit jumped all over him I might say alright fair enough that's part of the game plan this was kind of lucky that one guy made a ridiculously good play after Lamar had actually stung you because of what you gave him he ends up with 15 carries for 98 yards on design runs in general bike so he had the most design runs yeah for the Ravens because Mark Ingram had 15 for 59 they did do a good job bottling him up did force the foam ball Lamar it was a little bit more difficult to pass he missed a couple more throws and he had in recent weeks I love looking at the playing time splits for the Ravens nick boyle tight end 59 snaps mark Andrews and Hayden Hurst 28 and twenty three snaps respectively so three tight ends with at least 23 snaps you know just big ol power football but

I think with the Ravens it's like when it's fourth and short they're giving their guys so we talked all about the analytics and they're don't for it on fourth down but then when they're going for it on fourth down they're running power with Lamar Jackson behind multiple tight ends and extra offensive linemen and it's literally playing 12 on 11 like you can only tell you can you just can't cover every single gap and all you need is one decent block and Lamar Jackson's gonna pick it up so I would say give the Ravens a ton of credit for going for it on fourth down but they were like 13 of seven would have a 14 of 18 or something going for it on fourth down 15 of 19 now whatever it is that was the Eagles in 2017 like they were not only going or it more often than everyone else they were getting it at a such a ridiculous high percentage just something to keep an eye on can the Ravens keep that up that would that seems like something that needs to regress a little bit or are they just so good working their personnel and some of that short yardage because it's not all short yardage fourth downs either no you're helped massively by

Lamar being Lamar his ability to avoid taking direct shots is this is pretty nuts well that's the thing that makes the sorry I'm interrupting here again particularly for a quarterback right right like his ability to cut at speed and just go from you were one-on-one with this guy with a decent chance to stop him like immediately to crap he just cut inside me the best I can do his ankle tap him now and you'll get three yards is not so for that fourth down play it's like they they actually had that defendant pretty well like the Mars coming left is a guy one-on-one with him and he just sticks a foot in the ground cuts to his right and he only needed a yard right they had people trying they had two linebackers blown off the ball though two that were trying to just figure out the alignment because they're going on Ballack that's the other thing the

Ravens are doing unbalanced extra offensive lineman 17 tight ends and full backs in there but in this stuff where it's all used to game of numbers and assignments and making one-on-one matchups you have a guy that one-on-one is beating his man every single time almost sure and not necessarily beating him in terms of missed tackles but beating him to the point beating him to a soft shoulder right making this a difference between I'm running into a brick wall and I'm getting a soft shoulder meaning I can fall forward three yards which is all I need here like Lamar gives you a difference that no nobody else has like the Panthers had with Cam Newton when he was a viable part of their running game back in the day other teams have fractions of you know like the Seahawks do a bit of it with Russell Wilson in terms of evening the numbers but I nobody brings you the same advantage the Lamar does right now in terms of what he's able to do and I think when I was gonna interrupt you a little bit before the thing we said for him to survive like Vick Vick always got hurt rg3 always got hurt it is a skill to not take those straight-on hits

Russell Wilson's good at it but that Colin Kaepernick was always good we always mentioned these same guys right Lamar has been pretty good at it his early preseason runs though I thought he was taking a ton of hits right the first couple years in the league when he was he was taking a few too many big hits I thought he I think he's improved at keeping himself safe while still obviously being dynamic and efficient as a rock yeah I think he still takes a lot of hits but it's thing is he's so good he's so dynamic as a runner that he avoids the biggest hits that would be problems like he still takes hits that you don't want a quarterback taking but he's so good at simply being elusive that it's so hard to hit the guy direct directly you know the the real set of bone shuddering impacts that you think you have on him every time he takes off he just makes a cut and suddenly you're only arm tackling him or just getting a soft shoulder on right well impressive outing for the admit it felt like a heavyweight battle two of the best teams in the NFL going at it in rough conditions I credit the 49ers man that's tough rain game cross country one o'clock start

I felt like I'm more impressed with the Niners I mean the Ravens were six days removed from destroying the Rams not only destroying the Rams but a Rams team we're about to talk about destroyed the Cardinals yeah it had been played really good defensively so really well defensively leading into that game I think the way there was a factor but I think you do have to really come out of this crediting before you Niners defense like they did as good a job of slowing down this offense as anybody and honestly you're looking at the air their offensive performance and you're saying you know they could have won this game if Jimmy Garoppolo had played better yeah and not to be honest not that they could have won the game but that's kind of been the story of their season is that this team is a good Jimmy Garoppolo away from being ridiculously good that spite the stats against 15 of 21 for 165 and a touchdown alright but remember like the first touchdown Dee Bost at was in the double coverage is like a third or fourth down we get they kept they kept going for it instead of you know fourth or third downs early in the game and instead of just going to pick it they were like going for it all heave the ball into basically double coverage

Devo sam'l just goes up mosses somebody it was Marcus Peters scores the first touchdown so yeah Jimmy Garoppolo I don't I don't think played particularly well at all and to be honest that's kind of in the story of their season that this team has been you know a good Jimmy G away from being genuinely scary as it is they're still really good and they can win games but I don't think he's played at his peak for most of the year like there's probably a couple of games in there the Cardinals game he was really good but most of the rest of the time he's just been alright ya lost a fumble on a sack - that was part of the grade not being great Jimmy G yeah he just cycles back and forth between you like he looks like he's just quick and everything until he's not you want to get rid of me and get back to more great pfff TargetPo content I have to do is push that button right there and subscribe thanks for reading.
